The Polestar 4 is a clear example of the brand’s philosophies. Eschewing garish style for serene, Scandinavian minimalism, the design combines the sleek profile of a coupe with the capabilities and interior space of an SUV. It has a low, muscular stance optimized for aerodynamic efficiency, with “dual blade” LED headlights above inlets that direct airflow, a low hood line and a flat floor.

Most surprising is the lack of a rear window, which results in better headroom for rear passengers. Polestar uses a camera instead, which gives a wider frame projected in the rear-view mirror with clearer night views.

Passenger Tranquility

Inside, the emphasis is on passenger tranquility. Polestar designers use light, sound, space and touch to create a serene atmosphere for passengers. A panoramic sunroof makes the cabin feel even more spacious, while flush-glazed windows, flush exterior door handles and other exterior aerodynamic features help isolate passengers from wind and road noise, even at speed.

Solar system-inspired ambient lighting with selectable coloursgives a soothing glow at night, and five interior themes combine different colours and materials for a more personalized luxury.

Sustainable Luxury

Polestar recognizes that a new generation doesn’t see luxury in price or exclusivity, they see it in sustainability. The brand chooses its materials based on social and environmental impact of each, and even uses blockchain to trace their origins, all without compromise on quality, usability and luxury.

These include critical minerals for the battery, but also recycled or ethically sourced materials for the interior and other components. For example, the premium Nappa leather option for the Polestar 4’s seats originates from Bridge of Weir and adheres to strict animal welfare and quality standards. Or the Tailored Knit upholstery, which is made of recycled plastic and woven to an exact fit to avoid waste, yet both looks and feels premium.

With the battery in the floor and no need for a driveshaft or exhaust, the interior floor is flat and rear leg room is surprisingly generous at 930 millimetres for a limousine-like ride. Heated and reclining rear seats, comfort headrests and climate controls add to the VIP feel.

World-Class Technology and Performance

In today’s world, connectivity is everything. That’s why the Polestar 4 features Android Automotive OS with Google built-in, along with Apple CarPlay. The vehicle becomes an extension of your smartphone. In fact, the Polestar app lets you keep in contact with your vehicle through your own smartphone, allowing you to check battery status, schedule cabin and battery preconditioning, and even lock or unlock the doors, among many other features.

There are also a few unique comfort features that makes a Polestar different, too. Animal mode, for instance, controls the interior temperature and displays a message on the infotainment screen to let passer-bys know your pet is safe on its own inside. Or the Keep Climate mode, which maintains a comfortable temperature in the cabin while you’re away for up to eight hours.

And pertinent to Canadians, the Polestar 4 Long Range Dual Motor offers the traction and performance of all-wheel drive, with up to 544 hp and 506 lb.-ft. of torque. And being electric, power delivery is smooth and linear, without jarring gear shifts. With active, adjustable ZF dampers and coil springs, the Polestar 4 can be driven like a comfortable limousine or a scintillating supercar, it’s all up to the driver.
