At the heart of Hyundai Canada’s offering is a 5-year or 100,000 km (whichever comes first) New Vehicle Limited Warranty. That’s at least 2 years and 40,000 km more than most other competitors’ warranties. Covering the entire vehicle from defects, it extends that peace of mind well past when other carmakers’ warranties have ended.

This warranty also has other elements for more specific coverage: radio and sound systems are covered for three years or 60,000 km; paint is covered for 3 years or 60,000 km; and the vehicle’s 12-volt battery is covered for 2 years or 40,000 km.

Hyundai’s Powertrain Warranty covers 5 years/100,000 km for critical drive components such as combustion engine, transmission and drivetrain parts, including transaxles. This protects against defects in material or factory workmanship under normal use and maintenance.

For vehicles with gas engines, Hyundai’s Emission System Warranty is 5-year or 100,000 km coverage for essential emission components. But for even deeper coverage on more critical parts, Hyundai offers a Major Emission Warranty. For 8 years or 130,000 km, Hyundai will repair or replace the catalytic converter, engine control module, and/or Onboard Emissions Diagnostics Device (OBDII) if needed.

And if you have a Hyundai hybrid, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) or battery electric vehicle (BEV), there’s even more coverage for the expensive parts. The Hybrid and EV System Warranty offers 8-year or 160,000 km coverage on components such as the motor(s), inverter unit, VCM, reduction gear, DC/DC converter, onboard charger, onboard charger connector, trickle charge cable, in-cable control box, and drive battery.

Rounding off the standard warranty package is something rather unique to mainstream automakers. Hyundai’s 24/7 Roadside Assistance Program is another layer of confidence for when you need emergency service. For five years with unlimited kilometres, Hyundai offers such services as free towing, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, battery boosts, flat tire assistance and trip accident assistance service, among others.

A step up is the Hyundai Premium Plus Warranty, which covers almost the entire vehicle for any defects or breakdown. There’s even a Technology Premium Plus Plan, to protect your vehicle’s infotainment and audio system, which includes speakers, Bluetooth and even the antenna.

All extended warranties are transferable in the event you sell your vehicle and are also refundable within 45 days of purchase. They also come with 24/7 roadside assistance, trip interruption benefit for when you are more than 100 km from home, and a car rental benefit for when your vehicle is being repaired.
